The
Dream: Raising Registered Classic Shetland Ponies has always been a dream of Pat
Michielssen and her daughter, Mimi Michielssen-Woolem. Through the years, they have
enjoyed the company of many horses, whether showing on the circuit, herding cattle, or
just riding the trails. A pony to ride and drive always shared the barn. Fog Ranch is
aptly named. Located on the curve of the Monterey Bay, near Moss Landing, California, it
gets its share of a mixed bag of weather, hence "Fog Ranch;" fog is our
heritage.
The Ponies: Mr. Pat's Black Beauty R.S.A.P., was purchased
as a yearling from Darrell and
Anne Andrews of El Monte. She became our competition horse.
While we no longer own this mare, her first daughter is now on the show circuit.
We decided to give all of our foals Ocean - oriented names. Fog Ranch's Sand Pebble, Wave Dancer, Madison's Mermaid, Baywatch Babe and more have been the results of our efforts. Our gelding, Fog Ranch's Laughing Gull (aka Ha-Ha), won many Grand Championships, including wins at the prestigious Santa Cruz County Fair Classic Shetland Show. Thank you to all of our talented trainers for your dedication to training and showing our horses.
Over the
years, from our start showing Quarter Horses to our current, fantastic herd of Classic
Shetlands, we have developed as horse people. Our broodmares were chosen with great care,
possessing the conformation and presence so necessary for today's show ring with
dispositions of family companions. While all of our horses are always "for
sale," we do have select yearlings and two-year olds to fit almost any budget. E-mail
